We put the value of Southwest points around 1.2 cents each, which means 120,000 points are worth about $1,440. Of course, the actual value of your points depends on how you redeem them, so let’s check out some real-life examples.

Costa Rica and back for 14,000 points
If you’re looking for an adventure, consider this round-trip flight to Costa Rica in May. For only 14,000 points plus some taxes and fees, you could spend over a week in the land of Pura Vida. Even better, you would still have over 100,000 points left in your account for other adventures.
For 16,000 points and a very reasonable $11.20 in taxes and fees, you could jet off to Denver (and back) for a weeklong ski trip in January. Now that’s an affordable price for some fun on the slopes. And you’ll have plenty of points left over to invite friends or plan more trips.
How does some island time in Hawaii sound? You can snag a round-trip flight to Honolulu and back for 20,500 points and $11.20 in taxes and fees. You can even bring six friends or family members with you on the same flight, and you would all get a free checked bag from your credit card benefit.
