Broome County Forum Theatre Inducts Theater Legends into Wall of Stars | News

The Broome County Forum Theatre hosted an induction ceremony honoring and welcoming longtime theater leaders Tom Kremer and Carol Hanscom into its Wall of Stars.

The award recognizes the couple’s decades of contributions to the Cider Mill Playhouse, the regional arts community, and international theater.

Kremer served as artistic director of Cider Mill Playhouse from 1984 to 1991, as well as its founding artistic director when it incorporated. Over the past 40 years, he has performed in 68 major roles and directed 45 productions at the Cider Mill stage.

Hanscom has appeared in 63 major roles at the Cider Mill Playhouse and directed 13 plays. She was also the founding producing director and playwright for Appleseed Players, a touring children’s theater company based in Broome County from 1986 to 1992.

Together, Kremer and Hanscom have taught acting classes and theater workshops, written and produced original plays, and given presentations throughout the community.

In a historic first for the Wall, the couple chose to share their name on a single star.

“Carol’s voice upon my voice crossed, and mine upon hers, each voice constantly affecting the other, persisting, continuing, and never has her voice or my voice been quite the same since we started working together. And now, when we do or speak of things theatrical, we too are one voice—two artists, two blended voices, one star,” Kremer said.
